Equipping the Youth

On Mr. Richard Brookfield’s first trip with Life Connection Ministries to South Africa in 2005, God put the PARABLE OF THE SOWER (Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23) on his heart. At the same time a question presented itself: The LCM team comes 1 week of out of the year so what happens during the other 51? Over the past decade Life Connection Ministries focused on developing the pastors giving them the leadership tools towards EQUIPPING THE YOUTH using the Word of God. About a half dozen of the pastors are committed and have a heart to pour the Word of God into the youth. Each year we get around 700-900 newly saved in the tents. 75% of those are young people. In our pastors’ meetings last year, we realized six pastors could not pour into 500-600 youth.

As we met with the pastors each morning, we agreed that rather than go big and wide; we should go small and deep. Therefore we are committed to pouring into a few committed young people who in turn would focus on other young people. Over the next decade this would ignite a chain reaction.

On November 4, 2017, ten youth (ranging from 11 to 20 years old) were reading and answering QUESTIONS in John Chapter 9 & 10. Not only were ten youth actively participating, but the person facilitating was a young man in his early 20s. They have been meeting on Saturdays since May 2017. Because of Mr. Brookfield’s passion to equip the youth, Life Connections Ministries has stretched its vision to empower the next generation through mentoring, discipleship and empowerment conferences.
